National Open InterCentre won by Canterbury Women & Wellington Men

The Harbour Open Sides arrived to a very chilly 8 degrees on Thursday morning, the high for the day was supposed to be 12! The Men were playing at Burnside Bowling Club at noon and had 2 rounds to play. They played through icy cold, wet conditions, both the Singles & Pairs had a bye , and the Open Ladies were their in full support to encourage them and top them up with hot drinks.

Friday saw the Men at Papanui and the Women at Burnside, another very chilly day that thermals and many layers of clothing were required. The players gave it their all, the results not always going the way they wanted.

Saturday saw the final 2 rounds of qualifying Men at Morrison Ave and Women at Fendalton before post section draws were done at Burnside Bowling Club, the day started with extremely wet greens, the more they were walked on the wetter they got. Although slightly warmer the sun finally came out at 2pm when play was over.

Although neither Harbour Sides went through to Post Section, the games were very tight, and at times were lost on the last bowl of the game.

Paris Baker was privileged to mark the Women’s Singles Final between Northland & Canterbury, which she did extremely well.
