Bowls North Harbour – Men’s & Women’s Cadness Cup

CONDITIONS OF PLAY:

  1. Laws and Regulations: Played under the Laws of the Sport of Bowls and Bowls New Zealand Associated Regulations as applicable.
  2. Controlling Body: The Controlling Body for this event is the Bowls North Harbour Match Committee. The Controlling Body will have the right to alter, add to or delete any conditions of play and/or special conditions to enable the completion of the tournament.
  3. Entry Requirements: In this event players must be full playing members of the same club affiliated to Bowls North Harbour to enter in this competition. 2 PLAYERS MUST BE 1-10 YRS BOWLING OR GRADED LEAD OR GRADED TWO.
  4. Code of Conduct: All players will comply with and observe the requirements of the “Code of Conduct for players at Bowls North Harbour Event” as set down in the Bowls North Harbour Centre Handbook.
  5. Postponements: Any postponements due to weather conditions will be on the Bowls North Harbour website & Facebook page.
  6. Clothing: Players in a side will be identically attired, in their club uniforms, or whites/creams. Logos that conflict with Bowls North Harbour will not be permitted.
  7. Mobile phone: Use is not permitted by players on or alongside the greens during play. It is preferred that cell phones are switched off or turned to silent.
  8. Smoking Policy – There shall be no smoking on the greens or immediate surrounds. Smoking areas will be designated at each venue as advised by the host club duty officer.
  9. Alcohol Policy – Alcohol shall only be consumed in areas defined by the host club liquor licence and in no event be allowed on the green or surrounds during play.
  10. Catering: Payment of any catering supplied by clubs, including morning and afternoon teas, will be at the club’s discretion.
  11. Trial Ends: No trial ends for the Cadness Cup competition will be allowed.
  12. Late Appearances: When any team has failed to be in position to commence play 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time, the game will be awarded to the opponent.
  13. Score cards: These must be completed clearly and in full for every game. The names of all players and the time the game finished must be entered, and the score card must be signed by both SKIPS.
  14. Entry Fees and withdrawals: Entry fees will be refunded to late entries and entries not accepted. No refunds will be made to teams or players who withdraw less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled commencement of the event. Any withdrawals must be notified to the Bowls North Harbour office by 12 noon on the day preceding the scheduled commencement of the event.
  15. Complaints: The Bowls North Harbour Match Committee will act on any complaints and all playing disputes, provided they are in writing, to the Bowls North Harbour Events Manager.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF PLAY:

 

  1. Play will commence by: 9:30am on Friday 8th March, Friday 15th March, and Friday 29th March, 2019. Friday 5th April will be a reserve day.
  2. Bowls: Each player will play 2 bowls in each end. An incorrectly delivered Jack will not be returned, but will be placed by the opposing Skip who may also direct the Lead to move the mat.
  3. Team: 2 PLAYERS MUST BE 1-10 YRS BOWLING OR GRADED LEAD OR GRADED TWO. Substitute players will be permitted providing they meet the criteria.
  4. Bonus Fours Scoring: After Twos have played their bowls, Skips (who may require a measure) to decide on the shot(s) held and a maximum of two shots to be immediately registered on the scorecard & scoreboard. Skips may find it necessary to turn a bowl over to measure for a second shot.  Common sense to prevail and bowl to be replaced to the satisfaction of both skips.
  5. Killed End: If the end is killed the jack is to be placed on the 2 metre spot.
  6. Defaults: If a team defaults their score will be recorded as a loss. The non-offending team will be awarded a win and the average net total of shots scored by the winning teams in the same round of the same section.
  7. Tie in qualifying play: In the event of a Tie in qualifying play, NO extra end(s) will be played to determine the winner.
  8. Time limit: All games to be continued irrespective of the score until the designated 12 ends are played or the time limit (1 ¾ hours) is over, whichever comes first. If the jack has been delivered before the time signal the end will continue and if it subsequently becomes dead it will be replayed.
  9. Restricting the Movement of Players During Play: In all games, players will only be allowed to walk up to the head under the following circumstances:

Leads: after delivery of their second bowl.

Twos: after delivery of their second bowl.

Threes: after delivery of their second bowl.

Skips: after delivery of their first bowl. 

  1. Inclement Weather: During qualifying play, if weather conditions affect play a minimum of eight [8] ends will constitute a game. This is only applicable if announced prior to the start of that round’s game. If weather forces abandonment of play, 3 completed games will constitute completion of section play, and a result found from the 3 completed games.
  2. Schedule of Play: On each playing day the schedule of play shall be –

9.30am – 11.15am      Lunch               11.45am – 1.30pm      1.40pm – 3.25pm 

 

MEN –

  1. Qualifying: CADNESS CUP: Entries will be drawn into sections of 6, a round robin of 5 games of 12 ends or 1 ¾ hours playing 3 rounds on Friday 8th March and 2 rounds on Friday 15th The final rounds will be played on 29 March.
  2. Determining a winner: In all games three points will be awarded for each game won and one point will be awarded for each game drawn. Where game points are equal the winner of each section will be the team with the highest net total of shots. If the game points and the net total of shots are equal the team with the lowest “total shots against” will be the winner. If these are equal, the team that won the game when the two teams met will be the section winner.
  3. Finals Day: The section winner PLUS the next best team overall will play a round robin for the Cadness Cup. The 2nd placed team in each section (in section where next highest for Cup, this will be 3rd placed team) PLUS the next best team overall will play a round robin for the Plate. The remaining 10 teams will play 3 rounds with a random draw for the Consolation Prize.
  4. Prize Money: Prize Money will be paid at the completion of this tournament. This will be – 

Cadness Cup             1st place $200           2nd place $100

Plate                            1st place $100           2nd place $  80

Consolation              1st place $  80            2nd place $  60 

WOMEN –

  1. Order of Play: A round robin of play will be scheduled with each team playing each other. Three games will be played on Friday 8th, three games played on Friday 15th and three games played on Friday 29th March 2019. Friday 5th April will be a reserve day.
  2. Determining a winner: In all games three points will be awarded for each game won and one point will be awarded for each game drawn. Where game points are equal the winner will be the team with the highest net total of shots. If the game points and the net total of shots are equal the team with the lowest “total shots against” will be the winner. If these are equal, the team that won the game when the two teams met will be the winner.
  3. Prize Money: Prize Money will be paid at the completion of this tournament. This will be –
