  1. General Conditions: The “General Conditions of Play” as they are available on the Bowls North Harbour website will apply to this event to the extent, they are applicable.
  2. Play will commence by: 8:30am on Saturday 4TH and Sunday 5th February 2023.
  3. Bowls: Each player will play 3 bowls in each end.
  4. Dead Ends: If an end becomes dead it must be replayed.
  5. Restricting the Movement of Players During Play: In all games, players will only be allowed to walk up to the head under the following circumstances:

Leads: after delivery of their third bowl.

Skips: after delivery of their second bowl.

  1. Time Limit: A time limit of 2¼ hours will apply in all qualifying play and post section games apart from the final. The final will have no time limit. If the jack has been delivered before the end of the signalled time, the end will continue and if the end subsequently becomes dead it will be replayed.
  2. Qualifying: Entries will be drawn into sections of four with a round robin of three games of 18 ends. All games in qualifying must be completed in full if the result has any bearing on the potential qualification of any team within the section.
  3. Ties in Qualifying Play: If a game is a tied at the completion of 18 ends, or after the end is completed when the time limit is signalled, or at the completion of the minimum number of ends as stated in the conditions of play “Inclement weather” below, then both teams will be awarded one point.  Will be determined from the result of the three games played
  4. Byes in Qualifying Play: Should there not be an even number of teams then a section(s) may contain a bye. The bye will be treated as a win and no shot differential applied.
  5. Defaults: If a team defaults their score will be recorded as a loss. If all rounds of section play are completed the winner of the section will be determined from the result of the three games played between the three teams remaining in the section. If due to weather or other circumstances three rounds of section play are not able to be completed, then the bye team/s will be awarded a win and the average net total of shots scored by the winning team in the same round in the same section.
  6. Determining a Section Winner: Three points will be awarded for each game won. One point will be awarded to each team if a game is tied. Where game points are equal the winner of each section will be the team with the highest net total of shots. If the game points and the net total of shots are equal the team with the lowest “total shots against” will be the winner. If these are equal, the team that won the game when the two teams met will be the section winner. If still equal an extra end must be played between the two teams.
  7. Post Section: The winner from each section, plus the next two best teams over all sections, will qualify to Post Section play. The next two best teams will be determined by the same process as in “Determining a Section Winner”. A blind draw will be done to determine the order of play. Post Section play will be to find a winner of each game played. If the scores are tied at the end of 18 ends, or after the end is completed when the time limit is signalled, then one further tie-break end will be played to determine a winner.
  8. Inclement Weather: During qualifying play, if weather conditions affect play a minimum of eight [8] ends will constitute a game. If weather forces abandonment of play, two completed games will constitute completion of section play, and a result found from the two completed games. Each venue will be considered a separate competition when applying this condition. If weather forces abandonment at any one venue before the completion of at least two games of qualifying, the balance of events will be transferred to Day Two. If Day Two play is affected by weather conditions, the balance of the games will be transferred to the next available reserve day.
  9. Trophy and Prize Money: The presentation of trophy and prize money will be made immediately following the conclusion of the final.
