Summerset has teamed up with Bowls New Zealand to help bring the best of life to New Zealand lawn bowlers.

Summerset CEO Julian Cook says with so many seniors playing lawn bowls, it was a natural partnership between one of New Zealand’s largest retirement village operators and Bowls New Zealand, which has over 500 clubs nationwide.
“Bowls is extremely popular with the residents at our 23 villages. Each village has its own bowling green, where residents hold several bowling sessions a week,” says Mr Cook.
“Joining with Bowls NZ is a perfect alignment with Summerset’s purpose of bringing the best of life to its residents. Through this collaboration we’ll be part of bringing players together to enjoy a popular sport with over 500 clubs and 35,564 registered players in New Zealand. We will also be working with Bowls New Zealand to achieve its vision of New Zealand being the best bowling country in the world.”

Bowls CEO Mark Cameron is excited about the partnership. “Bowls is one of the most inclusive sports in New Zealand, how many other sports can you play for over 50+ years?”. Mark has fond memories of growing up around the bowling club environment and says it’s not just the competition that’s important to players. “A bowling green is a great place to socialise, you hear stories about last week, last year, or the last decade, and they are retold with the same passion as they were the first time,” he says.“Bowls has arich history that you get to take part in when you play and we want to share that with all New Zealanders.”
The Summerset Bowls NZ partnership begins on 1 April, 2018
