MESSAGE TO ALL CLUBS FROM BOWLS NORTH HARBOUR

In the current environment of change, we need to keep communicating with each other so we do not loose contact. Bowls North Harbour is still working for the benefit of all the clubs in the Centre and would like to bring you this update on what we are doing.

Greens Maintenance – this is a hot topic of conversation with the Government, as indeed it is with all turf sports field maintenance. The Minister has been made aware of the situation and a decision is awaited any day when the green-keepers will be able to return to the greens. See latest release on this subject on Bowls New Zealand web issued on 7 April.

Events for remainder of 2019/2020 – just a reminder of the events for the rest of this season that have not been completed.

            Bowls3five – both open and junior Centre finals are both on hold until further notice.

            Champ of Champ events – these events are all on hold being postponed until further notice.

            Open 1-5 singles/pairs and 1-8 triples/fours – these events have been cancelled and will not be held. Please do not send in any entries for these events.

Champ of Champ entries – whilst these events are on hold, we still do want to collect the entries for them so we are ready to go when we can get started again. A number of clubs have submitted their entries. Those clubs who have not entered are listed below. If your club is intending to enter the event would you please confirm your entries.

Centre Programme 2020/2021 – work is progressing on the programme for the next season and this first draft should be available to clubs later this month.

Annual Meeting/Awards Function – these events remain scheduled for 21 June. A decision on whether they can proceed has not been made yet until we see what happens with the lockdown. Meanwhile Bowls North Harbour will be continuing with the preparations and finalising its annual accounts and report for the year which ends on 30 April. Formal notice of the meeting and calling of nominations will be sent out later this month.

Board Meeting – the Board of Bowls North Harbour will be meeting next week on 15 April as scheduled by video conferencing.

Green-Keepers Conference 28-30 June, 2020 – You have had previous notice on this conference for green-keepers. Bowls North Harbour is encouraging all green-keepers to attend and have offered clubs a subsidy for their attendees. We have not been advised of the status of this event and are endeavouring to find out so will pass on information when we receive it.
