2018/19 Programme Update

Exciting and innovative times are ahead for the game we all love.

Bowls NZ have recently promoted their draft programme for 2018/19; which has an emphasis on Bowls NZ Nationals, New Zealand InterCentre & Bowls 3Five Interclub (Similar to our PPL concept).

Nationals will be split into two playing times

Singles/Pairs      2-8 January 2019

Fours                     28 February – 4 March 2019

Inter Centre will follow the previous year’s format and will involve all Centres’ with a side of 7 players, (men and women).

Bowls3Five Interclub will be played twilight midweek throughout NZ Nov-April. Qualifying clubs will go into a Centre then Zone knockout format and then onto a National Final. This event replaces the National Division One Interclub.

Deleted from the BNZ calendar are 2-4-2 Mixed Pairs, Pathways (Singles, Pairs, Triples, Fours), National Interclub Division Two and the 1-8 InterCentre. Thirteen National Titles (Includes men and women) are deleted from the calendar. National Interclub Division One is revamped into the Bowls3Five Interclub.

Our BNH focus is to deliver a programme based on the feedback we received from our ‘Chairpersons’ meetings earlier this year. With the NZ Open now cancelled and the Heartland Bank event not being reconsidered this season, the feedback we have received from our ‘Chairpersons’ meetings is to make our Pennant programme more meaningful and allow for home and away fixtures.

We are currently working on the BNH draft programme and expect it to be released this month to Clubs.

Also, a gentle reminder for Club Presidents, Board Members & Club Match Committee and any Members of the Meeting on Monday 7th May at Mairangi Bay 6:30pm where Mark Cameron will speak to the Bowls NZ programme.

Cheers

Graham
