LOCAL BOARD PLANS

Auckland City Council is calling for feedback submissions for their Local Board Plans.

Local Board Plans are important three year plans which detail the Local Board’s priorities and how they will invest their budget and support their communities. Each Plan sets out the Local Board’s vision, outcomes and key projects and initiatives.

Bowls North Harbour would like you to join us in making a positive contribution by participating in the Local Board Plan submissions. Your ideas and perspectives are invaluable in creating a vibrant and inclusive Auckland for everyone as Local Board Plans guide decisions made by the Local Board for the next 3 years.

We have bowling clubs that are spread over a large area and the Local Boards include:

• Kaipatiki (Beach Haven, Birkenhead, Northcote)
• Devonport-Takapuna (Takapuna, Milford, Belmont, Sunnynook)
• Hibiscus & Bays (Orewa, Manly, Browns Bay, Mairangi Bay)
• Rodney (Omaha, Warkworth, Mahurangi East, Riverhead, Waimauku, Helensville)
• Upper Harbour (Hobsonville)

Each of these Local Boards have a different plan which can be found at https://akhaveyoursay.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/hub-page/local-board-plans-2023 with a section in “Our Community” which has targeted sport and recreation requirements. A good example is the Hibiscus and Bay Local Draft Plan – Our Community has two key initiatives:

1. Support participation for sports groups to grow membership and financial sustainability. Preference be given to support any new club owned facilities to be multi-sport/ multi-use hubs.
2. Support the use of our local parks, reserves, and sports fields being available for people of all abilities, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds to enjoy in a range of leisure and recreation activities. Ensure strong walking and cycling connections, and to be places of flood risk mitigation.

These will fit well with submissions from Orewa, Manly, Browns Bay and Manly Bowling Clubs as they look to grow their clubs.

To make these feedback submissions relevant for our bowling clubs we would appreciate you contacting Robyne Walker on [email protected] with any additional information you can provide by Wednesday 9 August 2023.

Once we receive the additional information, we will submit feedback from Bowls North Harbour on behalf of your clubs. We also encourage you to make a feedback submission to Auckland City Council to strengthen your position.

The feedback is due back to Auckland City Council by 14 August 2023.
